Venice Tour

July 2023

The Schola toured Venice, Italy in July 2023, singing two concerts, the first at the Church of San Moisè, in the San Marco district on Wednesday 19 July. The programme, entitled Sacred Treasures of Spain & England, included works by featured on the Schola’s recordings by composers including Victoria, Guerrero, Esquivel, Philips, Tallis, Dering and Byrd.

The second concert took place at the Basilica di Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari, in the San Polo district on Friday 21 July. The programme, Sacred Treasures of Venice, featured music from the Schola’s upcoming CD release for Hyperion, including music by Andrea and Giovanni Gabrieli, Monteverdi, Croce, Finetti, Merulo and Bassano.

The Schola also sang two Masses; first, the Vigil Mass at St Mark’s Basilica on Saturday 22 July at 6.45pm and the following day, the midday Mass at the Frari on Sunday 23 July. More information can be found in the tour programme which can be downloaded here.
