The Abbot of Solesmes becomes a Patron of the Schola

The Schola Cantorum of The London Oratory School is delighted to announce a new Patron, Dom Geoffroy Kemlin OSB, Abbot of Solesmes.

"Conscious of your attachment to Gregorian Chant and your unwavering commitment to the beauty of the Liturgy, I am pleased to become a Patron of the London Oratory Schola. Indeed, the monks of Solesmes, since Dom Guéranger, share the same love of Divine Worship. Be sure that I ask God to grant that you and the boys will always remain faithful to your mission of praising Him through the beauty of your singing. Please pray for me and the Community of Solesmes. I pray for you and the boys."   Dom Geoffroy Kemlin OSB, Abbot of Solesmes

"This is a lovely way to formalise our friendship between you, the Abbey of Solesmes and the boys of the Oratory Schola, as a way of emphasising our commitment to singing Gregorian Chant within the context of the Sacred Liturgy. Further, this serves to mark our profound respect for the Abbey of Solesmes as the foremost custodian of Gregorian Chant, and an exponent of the highest musical and theological principles contained therein." Charles Cole, Director, London Oratory Schola

The Abbot of Solesmes joins the Schola's existing patrons, HE Robert Cardinal Sarah, HRH Princess Michael of Kent and Sir James MacMillan CBE.
